Atlantic Pumps Servicing Engineers Bring Joy To Wharf Owner
In the shadow of St. Mary’s football stadium in Southampton is a Cemex plant processing aggregates and minerals dredged from The Solent. A site visit from the Atlantic Pumps team established that some of the pumping equipment was old and ready for replacement, whilst other equipment was due for some preventative maintenance to ensure it was kept in good working order. We subsequently produced a proposal and quotation that met the requirements of the wharf management.
Our engineers then visited the site for two days in August of this year. The first job was to replace one of the Linatex pumps with a new Slurrypro centrifugal slurry pump, and replace some of the hosing with Gromatex abrasion-resistant hosing. We uninstalled the old pump and completely installed the new equipment, and ensured it was all in good working order.
Next, we carried out a full service on a 10 x 8 Warman slurry pump. This involved taking all the pipes off, opening it up, checking the condition of all the parts and bearings, replacing with new where necessary, and completely re-assembling.
Having left the site satisfied we had done a good job, it was heartening to speak to them recently, after 3 months of operation. The site manger reported that the improvements to the pumping equipment had raised the quality of the washed material to such an extent, that material was now being diverted to his plant rather than to the other 2 Cemex plants nearby.
